Just hold on tight,
Close your eyes and pray,
Never say I didn't warn you
I will warm you
Should you stay,
Should you choose,
But should you lose the faith to wait
Then I won't hate you,
But I won't deny
The love I've found in us,
Found in you,
I won't lie to hide our flame,
For where's the shame?
So I'm here,
And I offer you my heart.
Never part from me,
We'll take the furtive looks and glares,
We'll throw their stares back in their face.
I've found a place to live
Here in your heart;
Let us never be apart.

So hold on tight,
Close your eyes and pray,
Never say I didn't warn you,
I'll perform
You run away.
I will stay and face the pain.
Blistered feet on the scorching sands of truth,
But I'll stand fast,
I'll defend my ground until the very last
So run away,
Through the mild but mangled meadows of deceit;
Can't stand the heat?
Dishonest fool - come to realise
That all your lies have doomed you.
You'll be snared
While I fly free,
And though I may wish you're with me
You made your choice,
So I will voice the truth;
I loved you more than life,
Now I stand here cold as death.
I take a breath,
I hold on tight,
And I close my eyes and cry.
If you're going fast enough
Then it doesn't hurt to die.

A poem I wrote this morning. It's about having the strength to stay in a relationship which some narrow-minded idiots would condemn. A friend of mine is gay and got messed around and ultimately very hurt by someone who wouldn't admit her sexuality, because her Christian family were heavily homophobic and she feared she would be shunned. It's hard.

Nice piece.
A bit too much punctuation though - too many commas :)
